One of the most inspiring parts of launching 43 North Studio has been connecting with the incredible creatives in our community. We've had the pleasure of collaborating with a few talented artists (and friends) to help us get started, and we’re excited to meet even more of you as we grow. If you're interested in hosting a workshop or leading an open studio day, we’d love to hear from you! Reach out anytime at hello@43norththestudio.com.

Kristy Cavaretta
PRINTMAKER
Kristy Cavaretta is an artist, designer, and mother of three living on the Southern Maine seacoast. She enjoys exploring the minutiae of domestic life through a variety of media.
Cavaretta earned her undergraduate degree in Visual and Media Arts from Boston’s Emerson College and a Graphic Design Certificate from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. In 2012 she moved to the seacoast with her husband after a decade of working in the film industry in Los Angeles. She worked as a graphic designer until she had her first child in 2016 and continues to work as a freelance designer for numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Ogunquit Museum of American Art and Old York Historical Society. Cavaretta began learning printmaking in 2014 at Chases Garage in York, Maine in various workshop settings. Since having her children she has leaned into block printing, direct object printing, and collagraph printing for their accessibility and speed. Either the ability to make a block in a single nap time sitting or chipping away at a larger work little by little over a long period of time. She began teaching woodcut printmaking at Chases Garage in 2022

Laura Ritch
CYANOTYPE AND PHOTOGRAPHER
Laura graduated from The Art Institute of Boston in 2008 with a BFA in photography before becoming a registered nurse in 2014. While caring for hospitalized patients in 2020 and simultaneously being pregnant with her daughter, she returned to artmaking to make sense of the world. She is inspired by the parallel journeys of both her artistic practice and that of the intimate human experience to which nurses attend.
Her work consists of both traditional photography and Cyanotypes. Over the past few years, she has taught cyanotype workshops to both children and adults. Watching others fall in love with this beautiful practice brings her such joy! Her home is in southern Maine with her husband, two kiddos, a cat, a gecko, two fish, and shelves stacked with books! Her cyanotypes can be found at “The Gardenshop” at The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine.
